LPG types like propane and butane are already quite well-known to motorhome owners and campers, powering up stoves and heating systems from various-size tanks and cylinders. “Basically, the most important thing people can do nowadays is get an inverter that will accept a battery. A battery-ready inverter,” Niles said. “Because there’s a good chance you’ll need one in the future.”

“Battery-based systems are exploding because they can do time-of-use shifting and get around these solar restrictions,” Brennan said.

None of these hybrid inverters provide power from your panels when the grid goes down…..they just use what’s stored in your battery for a few hours then you’re done until the grid comes back up.

The two biggest names in the U.S. solar trade fight announced they would become one company in April. Three weeks after CEO, Tom Werner told Bloomberg and Reuters that SunPower was looking around for a location to site U.S. manufacturing, the company revealed that this production will not be a greenfield site, but actually the factory of its bitter foe in the Section 201 trade case. This means SunPower will again be a U.S. manufacturer, and SolarWorld Inc. will begin producing P-Series modules.
